TVonics Repairs

The TVonics Freeview set top boxes with speech have been a huge success with visually impaired individuals, as they provide access to television listings and recording features with full speech support. However shortly after developing the boxes in 2011, the TVonics Company went into liquidation. We are very pleased to offer a maintenance Service for these boxes. Servicing is for those people who own a box and are having problems, or who simply want the hard disk which stores all the software and recordings replaced with a better model. The hard disks included by default on these boxes were not very good quality causing speech to lag and the voice to stutter.

How much does a box Service cost?

We offer 2 Service options:

A full Service without recording transfer.

This Service costs £99 excluding postage costs and includes replacement of the original hard disk with a better quality one, a full box reset and software update if necessary, and full testing for a minimum of 3 hours to ensure your box is fully functioning before despatch. You will be advised when the hard disk is installed regarding the warranty period of the drive, guaranteed against manufacturer's defects.

A full Service with recordings transfer.

This Service costs £199 excluding postage and includes replacement of the original hard disk with a better quality one, a full box reset and software update if necessary, transfer of any existing recordings to the new hard drive, and full testing for a minimum of 3 hours to ensure your box is fully functioning before despatch. You will be advised when the hard disk is installed regarding the warranty period of the drive, guaranteed against manufacturer's defects. If recordings cannot be transferred due to the existing hard drive being corrupted, the Service will cost £99 excluding postage.

How much will postage cost me?

We offer all our customers the chance to send the box for repair via Articles for the Blind, but this service is only insured up to a certain amount. If you send the box via Articles for the Blind royal mail ‘Signed For’, the cost from most post offices is £1.10. If you are happy for us to send the box back to you using Articles for the blind, we are happy to include the postage costs as part of the repair. However, many customers prefer us to provide an express insured delivery service via Parcel Force. Using this service, you can rest assured that your box is sent via a tracked postage service with insurance included, for the value of your item. This service costs £7.50 each way. We can send you a prepaid label that you can print off and fix to your parcel. You can then drop the parcel off at any post office at no extra cost or we can book a collection from your home or place of work etc.

What is the turnaround time for repairs?

If using our express delivery Service, the average turnaround time is 3 to 4 days. On the first day, you drop the box off at your local post office or the box is collected from your home. Once we receive the box on the second day, the box is fully tested and the repairs are carried out. Boxes are generally sent back on the second or third day and will usually be with you by the third/fourth day. If a box arrives for repair on a Friday, we will do our best to ship it back to you on Monday or the next working day. All information you provide is held in the strictest confidence and will not be passed on to any third party.

We do not store credit card details.

All orders you place will be despatched via royal mail or parcel force and will usually reach you within 3 to 5 working days. When placing your order, we will advise you of the service we are using to send your parcel. You will receive an automated email from our systems when your order has been despatched.

ViTech Solutions complies with all trading legislation covering consumer protection, distance selling and electronic commerce regulations. Therefore, you have the right to cancel your order before we have despatched the goods or within fourteen days of receipt. Once we have received the items back in their original condition we will refund you within 30 days.

There are exceptions to returning some items, so please carefully check the full description of the product to check any special conditions that may apply. You will need to take care of the goods while they are in your possession, and return them to us safely in a complete and saleable condition at your own expense. Assuming the products are received in a saleable condition and are undamaged, we will then refund you within 30 days of receiving the products back from you.
